Swapped out a dying power supply on a Dell Optiplex 7040 and found a surprise

Pulled a used Optiplex 7040 from a client's closet last week. Power supply was clicking and smelled like burnt electronics. Opened it up and found a dead mouse and a nest inside the PSU fan shroud. Has anyone else run into critter damage in desktops like this?

Honestly that's just how it goes, half the stuff in my garage has mouse nests in it somewhere.

Oh man that's nasty but honestly it wasn't a dead mouse that died in the PSU itself. Dead mouse was probably already dead and got sucked in when the fan ran. That burnt smell was more likely the fan bearings seizing up from all the nesting material and debris getting wrapped around them. I pulled a similar thing out of an old HP once and the fan was completely locked up with fur and dust.
