That moment I realized I'd been seating RAM sticks wrong for years
Was helping a buddy build his first PC last month and he asked why I was angling the RAM in at 45 degrees. Turns out I'd been forcing them in crooked because my first build way back had a warped motherboard tray. Six years of frustrating builds undone by one YouTube video on proper insertion. Anyone else ever carry a bad habit that long from their first build?

Six years of crooked RAM installs? That's wild.

Wouldn't even know they were crooked for six years until trying to upgrade? That says a lot about how most of us just accept things as "good enough" without ever checking. Reminds me of how people drive around with low tire pressure for months on end just because the car still moves.

@brooke71 right? Six years is a long time to be doing it wrong but honestly that RAM slot design is way too forgiving. A lot of those plastic tabs will click in even if the stick is slightly crooked, especially on cheaper boards. Best trick I found is to lay the mobo flat on its box, push the RAM in from both ends at the same time using equal pressure until both clips snap. If one side clicks way before the other, you're probably angling it like OP was. @shanel13 you're not alone on this one for sure.
