TIL I been seating ram the same wrong way for 6 years

I was at a repair shop in Austin waiting on parts and watched a kid push a stick of ram in till it clicked on both sides at once, not one end at a time like I always did. Fixed a boot issue I been fighting for months on my own rig in about 5 seconds. Anyone else get stuck doing something the hard way for years without knowing it?

Hold on a second, you shouldn't be pushing both sides at once either. What you really want to do is just line the stick up with the slot and push straight down evenly until both clips snap in on their own. Pushing one side first can bend the pins, but jamming both sides at the same time with too much force can crack the motherboard. I always put the stick in flat, press gently on the top middle, and let the clips click naturally. That little video of the kid doing it might've got the point across, but don't follow his exact hand motion or you'll mess something up.

Yeah that clicks-when-it's-seated thing saved my build too. No more wiggling one side.
