Vent: Had to explain to a client why their new laptop felt slower than their 3-year-old one
Last week in the shop, they'd bought a budget model with 4GB of RAM and a cheap eMMC drive, while their old machine had 8GB and an SSD. Anyone else seeing this trend where the price tag looks good but the actual specs are a step backwards?

My Lenovo from 2015 still runs Windows 10 fine but yeah, I feel like we hit a wall around 2019 or so. It's not just laptops either, even my phone from last year does the same stuff as my one from 2018, just with a better camera. Maybe it's just me but everything feels more about small tweaks now instead of big jumps forward. idk, maybe we just got too good at making the basic stuff and ran out of easy wins.
