Had a 40 yard pour go sideways on a hot day in Phoenix, the mix was setting up way too fast. What's your go-to move when that happens?

Been there, that heat is brutal. I keep a spray bottle with water and a retarder on the truck for exactly that. A light mist on the surface can buy you just enough time to finish the placement.

Oh man, @harperwright, that reminds me of my buddy's pour last summer. His surface set so fast it looked like a map of canyons. They ended up hosing it down and starting over, total mess.

My old foreman in Tempe swore by adding a couple gallons of cold water to the drum right before the pour if we saw it cooking off. That spray bottle trick is smart for the surface, but sometimes you need to cool the whole batch from the inside. We'd even throw bags of ice in the mixer if we were really in a bind. What retarder do you mix in your spray bottle?
