Hit a clean 200 feet of sidewalk today with zero cracking

I noticed a lot of guys skip wet curing on warm days, then wonder why their finish checks overnight. Just spraying it down every 4 hours for the first 2 days made all the difference on this St. Louis job. Anyone else religious about their curing method or do you just let it ride?

Yeah, spraying it every 4 hours sounds like a lot of babysitting even for a parent with a very boring newborn. I guess I just like my concrete needy.

It's great that your slab held up, but wet curing every 4 hours on a 200 foot run sounds like a lot of extra work that might not be needed. I've been doing this for years in the heat and dry cure works just fine if you get the mix right and the timing down. Spray it once right after finishing, then leave it alone. Covering with wet burlap can trap moisture too long and mess with the surface if you're not careful. I'd rather watch the weather and adjust a dry cure than babysit a slab all day.
