Spent $400 on a laser level my crew stopped using after 3 pours

Bought a Huepar self-leveling laser setup for $400 in March thinking it would speed up screeding on our big slabs out in Mesa. Turns out the beam washes out in direct sun and two of the guys kept tripping over the tripod legs, so it sat in the truck for a month. Anybody found a laser that actually holds up on bright outdoor pours, or am I better off just going back to string lines and a good screed board?
