That Tuesday pour in June went sideways fast

We had a 40 yard pour scheduled for a driveway in Fresno and the weather report said clear. By the time we got the forms set, the wind kicked up and it dropped to 68 degrees right as we started finishing. Slab started setting up patchy and I had to call my buddy for a second trowel machine on the fly. We saved most of it but the homeowner could see the lines in the surface and asked if we could grind it down. Has anyone else dealt with a sudden temp swing ruining a finish? What do you do when mother nature changes the game halfway through?

Wait, is it really a surprise that the temp drops when the wind kicks up mid-pour? Seems like you had a solid hour to adjust your mix or timing before it was too late.
