Vent: A tiny cold joint on a garage slab cost me half a Saturday

Spotted a hairline crack forming right as we were about to start finishing, and it turned out to be a cold joint from the first truck arriving way before the second. Had to stop everything, cut it out, and re-pour a small section. Has anyone else had a truck delay totally mess up a simple pour?

Totally feel your pain on that one. Had a driveway pour go sideways last year for the exact same reason. Second truck got a flat and showed up almost two hours late. That line was so clear you could see it from the street. Wound up having to saw cut the whole section out. Now we make the driver call the plant from our site before we even start.

Are we really saw cutting whole driveways over a line you can only see if you're looking for it? Seems like overkill when a little texture blending would fix it.

We learned to always call the batch plant the morning of the pour for a firm arrival time. That extra call saved us from a similar mess last month. It's a simple step that avoids a lot of headache.
