Why I stopped using that plastic fiber additive in my slabs
For about 3 years I was mixing in that micro synthetic fiber into every driveway pour, thinking it was preventing cracks. Then I had a job last June in Austin where the surface just wouldn't take a broom finish right, looked all fuzzy and weird. Client made me grind it down and I lost $400 on that one. Now I just go back to good old wire mesh and proper control joints. Has anyone else had bad luck with those fibers messing up your finish?

Oh yeah, nothing says "quality craftsmanship" like a driveway that looks like a fuzzy sweater. I tried those fibers once on a small patio and ended up with a surface that felt like brushing my teeth with sandpaper. Ended up having to resurface the whole thing just to get it to take a decent broom finish. Now I keep that stuff in the "donation pile" for some poor soul who wants to experiment.

Come on now, is it really that bad? I've used those fibers on a few jobs and never had issues like that. Maybe you just got a bad batch or mixed it wrong. I bet most folks wouldn't even notice the difference if you didn't tell them.

Honestly, is it really that serious or are we just being dramatic about some driveway fuzz?
