Man my buddy tried that whole "just telling people what they wanna hear" thing at work once. Ended up promising his boss he'd have a full project done by Friday when he knew damn well it would take two weeks. Spent the whole weekend scrambling, had to pay his neighbor's kid fifty bucks to help him collate binders at 2 AM. Now whenever anyone asks him how something's going he just says "it's coming along" and walks away real fast. Learned that lesson the hard way.
