My car's AC gave out on Interstate 10 near Phoenix in 110 degree heat last Tuesday

I had to pull over at a rest stop for 45 minutes drenched in sweat because the compressor locked up, has anyone else had their AC fail at the worst possible moment like that?

Air that's just bad luck, my compressor died in a grocery store parking lot in July and I made it worse by running the engine.

Did you try unplugging stuff while it was still hot? I had mine seize up on me once and letting it sit with the hood open for like 20 mins before I even touched it saved me a tow.
