My laptop died mid-debate last night and I lost 40 minutes of notes on the Denver airport thing
Last night around 9pm my laptop just shut off while I was typing up notes on that Denver airport mural debate. No warning, no low battery popup, just black screen and everything gone. I had 40 minutes of notes in a doc I forgot to save because I was in the zone, and my kid had unplugged the charger earlier to charge her tablet. I spent the next hour trying to find a recovery file and ended up redoing everything from memory, which meant I missed half the replies in the thread. Has anyone found a setup that auto saves while you type, or am I just stuck hitting ctrl s every two minutes like a caveman?
Losing 40 minutes of notes sucks but let's be real here, is the Denver airport mural thing that deep that you can't just type it up again? You said yourself you rewrote it from memory, so the info was still in your head, meaning nothing was actually lost except your time. The real problem is your kid yanking the charger, not the laptop. Any word processor from the last 20 years has auto save, you just have to turn it on in settings, which takes about ten seconds. So no, you're not stuck being a caveman, you just never bothered to check the options menu.
