My uncle swore the moon landing was faked, then he showed me one tiny thing on his shed wall
Last Thanksgiving at his place in Ohio, my uncle pointed at a framed photo of the Apollo crew he got signed at a 1994 air show in Dayton, and said he still thinks the whole thing was filmed in a hangar. I asked him why he kept the photo up, and he said "because the lie is more interesting than the truth." That hit me weird, because he wasn't angry about it, he just liked having something to argue about at dinner. Now I can't stop wondering how many people hold a belief just because it makes the day less boring, and if that's even a problem or just human nature. Anyone else run into someone like that, where the belief itself mattered way less than the conversation it started?
