My uncle's 'moon landing proof' video fell apart at a family dinner
He brought his laptop to Thanksgiving in Phoenix last year to show us a video about the flag moving in a vacuum. I pulled up the NASA explanation about the flagpole's motion and the lack of air resistance, which he hadn't seen. The whole table got quiet, and he just closed his laptop after about two minutes. It was awkward, but he called me a week later to ask for the links I used. How do you handle these talks when someone brings 'proof' that's easy to check?

So did you send him the links, or did you make him sweat a little longer?

Phoenix Thanksgiving sounds rough for that. Honestly, why make a big deal out of it at the table. The guy just wanted to share something he found. Checking facts later is fine, but turning dinner into a debate seems like overkill. It's just a moon landing video, not a life or death thing.

Honestly that whole situation sounds super familiar! My cousin tried the same thing with a video about jet fuel and steel beams a few years back. Pulling up the counter info right then definitely kills the mood, but sometimes people just need to see it. At least your uncle was curious enough to follow up later, which is a good sign. Those talks are always a minefield between being right and keeping the peace.
