Overheard a guy at the coffee shop in Boise say 'the official story never adds up' about the 2008 market crash. He wasn't yelling, just calm. Made me wonder what specific piece he thought was missing.

Probably the lack of real consequences for the people who caused it.

Tell me about it. Feels like the same story every time, right Wesley? Watch the whole thing burn down and then the guys with the matches get a promotion. Makes a person feel pretty small. Like my biggest consequence is choosing the wrong line at the grocery store.

And that right there is the thing that gets me, @the_dakota. The people who actually make the mess never have to clean it up, do they? They just move on to the next thing like nothing happened. Meanwhile the rest of us are stuck dealing with the fallout, trying to make sense of it all. It wears on you after a while, seeing the same pattern play out over and over. You start to wonder if anyone even pays attention anymore, or if it's just accepted as the way things are.
