Finally got my COI verified after 11 days so I can start the $18k deck job in Boise
The general contractor's portal kept rejecting my certificate of insurance last Monday because the agent listed the wrong entity name on the additional insured line. I called my insurance guy three times and he kept saying it looked fine on his end until I sent him a screenshot of the exact error message, then he fixed it in 20 minutes. How do you all handle COI wording with big GCs, do you make your agent send you a draft first or just wait for the rejection?
Yeah the draft request thing is the way to go. I went through almost the exact same mess last year with a property manager in Meridian, agent had the LLC name spelled out instead of the DBA and it bounced back twice before anyone would tell me what was actually wrong. Now I just have him email me the certificate before it goes anywhere, takes two minutes to read it and I have caught the wrong address and a missing waiver of subrogation that way. Way less stressful than sitting around for a week wondering why the portal keeps spitting it back.
