I think the push for 100% upfront payment from new clients is a bad move

I mean, I tried it on a kitchen remodel in Denver last month and the client got so nervous they backed out completely. Has anyone else lost a solid job over payment terms?

Totally, I lost a big tree job asking for full payment upfront.

Our Denver remodel last year needed a 50% deposit to start.

Yeah that tracks, my contractor basically wanted my firstborn child and a blood oath before he'd pick up a hammer lol. I remember writing that deposit check and my soul leaving my body for a minute. Felt like I was just handing over a stack of cash hoping he wasn't a ghost, but I guess that's just how it goes now. Makes you really, really sure you want to do the work.
