Last Wednesday was the worst day I've had in 6 months on the job
I had three back to back calls in the same apartment complex near downtown. First unit had a blower motor that was seized up, second unit had a refrigerant leak I couldn't find with my leak detector, and the third unit the tenant said it wasn't cooling but it was just a dirty filter they could have changed themselves. By the time I got home at 8pm I had made $87 in profit after parts and gas. The worst part was the leak on unit two. I spent 2 hours with the UV dye and still couldn't find where it was coming from. Has anyone else dealt with a refrigerant leak that just disappears on you?

...and honestly man, that sounds like a pretty average Tuesday to me, not the end of the world. I mean, $87 profit after everything and no major parts to fork out for? That is totally fine for a day you didn't have to drive all over town. The leak thing, yeah it stinks, but I've had leaks I couldn't find for a whole week and still got paid for the callback. Losing two hours on one job is frustrating but that's just how some days go. It's not like you had a compressor blow up on you or flooded someone's ceiling.

@thomas291 I've been right where you are with those invisible leaks, man. Try hitting the coils and lines with a spray bottle of soapy water while the system is running, that's how I finally found one that was hiding in the insulation on a suction line.
