Rant: The difference between licensed and unlicensed electricians I saw on a Reno in Seattle
I worked a kitchen remodel last summer where the homeowner let his brother-in-law do the wiring first. Three weeks later we had to rip it all out because it failed inspection. The licensed guy came in, fixed everything in two days, and it passed on the first try. Anyone else notice how often unlicensed work ends up costing way more in the long run?

EXACTLY man people don't get that paying a licensed guy upfront saves money and headaches. The brother-in-law probably thought he was helping but he just made a huge mess. Licensed guys know the code stuff cold and they have insurance if something goes wrong. Unlicensed work always leads to more problems down the road like fires or shorts. It is STUPID to cheap out on electrical work because it can literally kill you or burn your house down.

My neighbor spent $300 on a handyman to rewire his basement and the insurance adjuster literally laughed when he filed a claim after a short melted a hole in his drywall. They denied everything because the work wasn't permitted and had no inspection record (the policy has a specific clause for unlicensed electrical work, which nobody reads until it's too late). That $300 savings probably cost him around $4,000 in repairs and a big fat premium hike.
