Shoutout to the guy at the supply house who said charging by the hour is always the best way to go
After hearing that, I realized my flat-rate pricing model for a kitchen remodel in Denver last month actually made me more money and kept the client happier because there were no surprises on the final bill.

Oh man, that hits home. I tried the hourly thing for a while and spent more time explaining the clock than doing the work. A clear flat rate for my last bathroom job meant zero stress calls about the bill, and I still came out ahead when we hit a snag with the old plumbing.

Ugh, the clock-watching clients are the worst. Been there. You end up feeling like you're on trial for every coffee break. Switching to flat rates was the best move I ever made too. It just cuts out that whole weird tension where the customer is mentally billing you. Now it's just "here's the job, here's the price, let's do it.
