A client asked me to match a hair color from a 20 year old photo
Last Thursday, a regular brought in a faded picture of her wedding day from 2004, wanting that exact shade of auburn again. The lighting in the photo was so warm it made the reds look orange, and her natural base is much darker now. I ended up doing a strand test with a 6RV and a 7.43 mix from Wella, which got us close after two tries. How do you all handle color matching when the only reference is a really old picture?

Wait, but what if it's actually the easiest way to get everyone to stop asking you for stuff?

Hang on though, think about it the other way. If everyone knows you are a total nightmare when they ask for stuff, they just stop asking. That means you get left alone completely, which sounds like a dream come true to me. There is no more having to say no politely or making up excuses because they already know the answer. People will just figure out your deal and leave you be. It saves a ton of energy not having to explain yourself over and over. Sometimes being the nightmare is the easiest way to get some peace and quiet.
