A lady in my chair yesterday asked for a 'Karen cut' but then got mad when I showed her a picture of it.
She pointed at the photo and said, 'No, I want to speak to your manager, but I don't want to look like I want to speak to your manager,' which left me just staring at her for a solid ten seconds trying to figure out what that even means.

Wait what? So she basically wanted the attitude but not the haircut? Did you end up asking her to describe what she actually wanted instead?

My cousin went through this exact thing last month, @evan_dixon67. Her client brought in a photo of a pixie cut but insisted she keep all her length, it was a total mess. You have to just stop and ask for a different picture sometimes because the words don't match the vision. It feels like they want the confidence from the model in the photo without any of the actual change. I felt so bad for her, she had to spend an extra hour just figuring out what the real goal was.

Actually had a client last week who did the same thing as black.beth's cousin. Sometimes people just need the stylist to translate their dream into something real that works for their hair. It's not about refusing change, it's about finding a middle ground.
