A wedding in a barn made me rethink my whole approach to updos
I was doing hair for a wedding party in a dusty old barn in Lancaster last fall. The bride wanted these soft, romantic curls, but the humidity from a sudden rainstorm turned everything into a frizzy mess. I had a small bottle of a lightweight, flexible hold hairspray in my kit, and I sprayed it on my hands before smoothing down the flyaways. It gave control without that crunchy feel, and the style actually held through the whole reception. Anyone else have a go-to trick for fighting humidity on location?

That spray-on-hands trick is a lifesaver. What brand was the flexible hold hairspray you used? Some formulas get sticky in that kind of damp heat.

I found that Aussie brand flexible hold spray works in Florida humidity without that gross sticky feel, murphy.lee. It's the only one that doesn't make my hair feel like a helmet when it rains.

That sticky feeling in damp heat is the worst. I switched to a water-based spray for outdoor stuff and it made a huge difference. No more helmet hair when the air gets thick.
