Client showed me a 9 month difference in her hair and the fix was one thing I never ask about
She went from breaking at shoulder length in January to past her bra strap by October, and the change wasn't a new product, it was that she stopped coloring at home over the bathtub and started coming in every 8 weeks instead, so now I'm torn on whether telling clients to just stop DIY is honest advice or me protecting my chair, what do you all say when someone swears their box dye is fine?
Man, I feel this. I had a client last year who kept swearing her box dye was fine, and her ends were fried and snapping off every time she brushed. I started asking her to just skip one color and see how her hair felt in 6 weeks, nothing pushy, and she came back shocked at how much thicker it looked. She still colors at home sometimes but she comes in for trims and a glaze now, and that alone saved her length. Honesty and your chair aren't enemies here, most DIY damage shows up in the mirror whether you say anything or not.
