DAE find out the average client only tips like 18% on a $200 color service?
I was reading a survey from a stylist group in Chicago that tracked 500 appointments last spring. Turns out the median tip on a $200 color job was $36, which is 18%, but on a $40 cut it was $10, which is 25%. I always assumed the bigger the ticket the bigger the tip, and that is just not true. A friend of mine does bridal work and she said the same thing, brides tip less than regulars. I brought it up at my shop in Denver and two other stylists said they noticed it too. Does anyone else see this pattern or is it just the clients in my area?
