Hit 500 foils in one day last week and my wrist still hurts

I had a bridal party of 8 walk in plus 4 regulars and somehow powered through 500 foils before closing. My dominant arm felt like jelly for two days after that. Any other stylists here ever track how many foils you crank out in a shift?

My chiropractor told me about a study that said hairstylists put more repetitive strain on their wrists than professional tennis players. After a day like that, I believe it. 500 foils is a monster number, your wrist is basically screaming at you for a reason. The grip thing Tyler mentioned is real, I had to start using those silicone finger covers just to keep some friction without death-gripping every section. At my salon we joke that wrist braces should be part of the dress code, but it's not really a joke. Hope you're icing that thing and taking some ibuprofen, because the next day is brutal when you don't.

oh man, I feel this deep in my soul. my wrist actually started locking up on me after a 400 foil day last fall, and I had to switch to a different grip for like two weeks. it's wild how you kind of lose track during the rush because you're just in the zone, but then the next morning you're like 'why does my elbow feel like I arm wrestled a bear.' your body definitely pays the price for those marathon days, no question about it.
