I used to think a blowout was just about speed until a client in Chicago said her hair felt 'fried' after my usual 450-degree pass.

Switched to a 380-degree setting with a heat protectant spray and the difference in shine and texture was night and day. Anyone else have a specific temperature they swear by for fine hair?

Remember my cousin swore by 300 degrees for her thin hair, said anything hotter made it feel like straw. I tried it once and honestly got way more volume at the roots without that crispy sound. Might depend on the iron though.

Wait, did your cousin ever try it on thick hair? My friend has this super dense, wavy hair and she always cranked her iron to like 400. She complained her curls fell flat in an hour. I finally made her try my 300 degree setting as a test, and she was so mad it worked better. Her waves actually stayed bouncy all day instead of going limp. She said it was like the heat sealed the style without frying the life out of each strand. Now she won't go above 320, says it was a total game changer.

Honestly @the_ivan is onto something, it's like how the lowest heat on my toaster makes the best toast without burning it.
