Tried freehand foils against a cap method last month, totally different results
I've been doing foils for about 3 years and always used the cap method because that's how I learned. Last month I had a client who wanted really fine highlights so I tried freehand on her and it came out so much more natural. The cap gave me harsh lines and took like 45 minutes longer. Has anyone else switched methods and seen a big change in how the color looks?

Tbh freehand foils usually look way more natural because you're not pulling through a cap that forces the hair into straight lines. Cap method can work for certain looks but it's way rougher on the hair and leaves those chunkier sections. 45 minutes longer sounds about right for the cap too. Freehand also lets you paint the product right where you want it instead of relying on holes that might not match the client's head shape. The transition is a little weird at first but once you get the hang of it, you'll never wanna go back lol.
