Update: chair 3 gave me $340 in tips last Saturday and I think the front desk setup is why
I know everyone says tips are random but last Saturday was different. I had 9 clients back to back and 7 of them tipped over 20 percent, which almost never happens on a normal day. The thing is, we moved my chair to the front window two weeks ago because the back room got flooded, and people keep stopping to watch while they wait. My 2pm color client even asked if I could squeeze in her sister next time because she liked how busy it looked. Our owner wants to move me back once the room dries but I told her I want to stay up front. Has anyone else seen walk in traffic jump just from being visible from the street?
The line about "people keep stopping to watch while they wait" is real, a buddy of mine runs a barber shop and moved his chair to face the window on a whim. His walk ins went from like 2 a week to 8 or 9, mostly dudes who said they saw someone getting a fresh cut and just pulled over. Being seen is free advertising, so fight to keep that spot.
