Used to hate those color ring swatches, now I swear by them after a bad magenta situation

Magenta is literally the color that humbles you. Had a client request "neon pink" and ended up with something closer to pepto bismol meets traffic cone. Now I keep a full ring of random acrylic paints just for mixing tests. Found out the hard way that magenta pigment takes over everything like a bully in a schoolyard. White paint barely dilutes it, you need to add green to neutralize it properly. Those little rings are worth their weight in gold once you've had to redo a whole batch.

Started carrying a little notebook for the same reason, jotting down exactly how much of each color I used and what went wrong... turns out the same principle applies to cooking, where a tiny bit of too much salt can ruin a whole soup and you need acid to fix it. It's funny how life keeps teaching you that a small mistake early on can mess up everything, and having a quick reference or test saves you from big headaches later. Once you get burned by something like magenta or oversalting, you never go back to just winging it.
