A messy yard reshuffle showed me why we plan lifts ahead of time...
We had to move a bunch of stuff around with no real order... took twice as long as it should have. Now I sketch out even the simple jobs on a napkin before we start.

Honestly, I do both the phone pic and the sketch now. I mean, I'll take a photo, but then I scribble right on it with my phone's markup tool, like little numbers or arrows for the order. One time we just had photos and still messed up because we forgot which pile was supposed to go where first. Marking it up takes two seconds and saves that whole mix up. It sounds like extra work but it stops that moment where everyone just stands around confused.

But what if the whole point is to just get moving? All that planning can freeze you up. I've seen guys spend twenty minutes debating a napkin sketch for a ten minute lift. @nancy_davis75 marking up photos sounds clever, but sometimes you just need to grab the couch and go. Overthinking it kills the momentum. Last week we just started hauling boxes and figured it out as we went, and it was done before my neighbor even finished his detailed diagram.

I get the napkin sketch, but even that can get lost. A quick pic with your phone before you move anything works way better for me.
