Just realized I've been overthinking my rigging checks
I was having coffee with a retired operator named Frank last week, and he said something that stuck with me. He told me he spent 30 years on tower cranes and his only rule was 'trust your hands, not just your eyes.' He meant actually feeling the shackle pins and running your hand down the wire rope for flat spots. I've been so focused on the visual checklist I forgot how much you can feel. Anyone else have a simple physical check they do before a lift?

Wait, he ran his bare hand down the wire rope?

Oh man, I've done that once. Felt like my hand was being used for sandpaper testing.

It's just a wire rope, how bad could it be?
