Picked the older Grove over the newer Liebherr on a tight job

Last month I had to choose between a 50-ton Grove with 1,200 hours and a Liebherr with half that, but the Liebherr needed a week of rental wait. I took the Grove because the site in Newark had a nasty 4% grade and I know its counterweight setup better. It handled the steel beams fine, but I had to do two extra swings to keep the load steady in the wind. Has anyone else passed on the newer machine and regretted it or been glad they stuck with the familiar one?
