Pro tip: grease the wedge socket pins every weekend, not when you remember
I kept seeing guys on site skip this until a pin siezed up on a 50 ton Grove last Thursday. Took us 3 hours with a torch to free it, plus the operator lost half a shift. I grease mine every Saturday morning before first lift, takes 5 minutes with a brush. Anyone else have a seized pin story from skipping it?
That bit about greasing every Saturday before first lift is the real trick, doing it on a set day instead of when you remember. I started keeping a small brush and a tub of grease right in the cab so there is no excuse to put it off. Cost me maybe five minutes a week and I have not had a pin stick since.
