Pro tip: listen to your rigger even when you think you know better
Was setting up for a big tower pick last month on a job site outside Portland and my rigger kept saying to choke the load different than I usually do. I been running cranes for 12 years so I figured I had it figured. He insisted though so I went with his way. Turned out the center of gravity was way off from what I guessed and if I had done my usual hook-up that thing would have swung hard on lift off. We woulda been fine but it would have been a mess to control. Now I always ask the rigger to walk me through their logic even if I think I got it. Saves time in the long run you know. Anyone else ever get schooled by a rigger with way less experience?

Yep, had a green rigger save my ass on a blind pick last year.

And @sarahh48 I think it applies way beyond cranes too. I notice in my own life the people who save me from mistakes are often the ones who aren't as loud or confident about their knowledge, they just quietly know what they're talking about. It's humbling but it's a good reminder that experience and ego are two totally different things.
