Rant: That $600 swing bearing seal blew out on the 1900 at a job site near Huntsville last Tuesday

Had to shut down for a full day and wait for a mobile mechanic because the grease fitting was caked solid with dirt and I never caught it during my pre-shift walkaround, anyone else had a small neglect turn into a big problem like that?

Man I got a buddy who runs an old 580K and he did the same thing last fall. He was out in western Kansas doing some drainage work for a farmer and one of the tie rod ends went bad. He knew it was making a little noise for like two weeks but kept putting it off because he was behind schedule. Well one afternoon the whole rod snapped clean off during a turn and the wheel just flopped sideways. Took him three days to get the part and a welder out there to fix the bracket. Cost him almost two grand in downtime and parts plus he had to pay the farmer a penalty for being late on the job. He still brings it up every time we grab a beer.

I mean I've definitely turned a five minute fix into a whole weekend before, classic move.
