Shoutout to the old-timer who caught me swinging a load wrong

I've been running a Grove RT for about 4 years now and thought I had the hang of things. Last Tuesday I was moving some steel beams on a job site in Portland and an older operator named Frank walked over. He asked if I always let the load swing that much before I start booming up. I told him yes and he just shook his head and showed me a different way to time the swing and the hoist together so the load stays steady. Turns out I was making everything harder and slower for myself this whole time. Anyone else have a moment where a simple tip from a veteran changed how you operate day to day?

Frank sounds like a legend. Had a similar thing happen a few years back with a veteran operator who showed me I was booming down way too fast and bouncing the load like crazy. Took me about 10 minutes to learn what I'd been doing wrong for months.
