That Tuesday last August was my worst day on a crawler crane ever

I was setting steel on a 5 story job in Cincinnati and the wind came up so fast I had to hover a 3 ton beam for 20 minutes while the riggers cleared off the roof. Has anyone else had a day where the weather just turned on you out of nowhere?

Had a beam swinging in the breeze like a windsock once, watched the tagline guy get yanked off his feet and dragged halfway across the deck before he let go. 20 minutes hovering a 3 tonner sounds like a real party, hope you had good coffee in that cab cause you earned it. My load was only 2 tons but the gusts made it dance like it was alive, scared the crap out of the ground crew. Weather apps are a joke man, they say clear skies then you're fighting a tornado for lunch.

Maybe it's just me but I'd rather wrestle a wet cat than a swinging steel beam any day.
