The main hoist brake on my Link-Belt just gave out mid-lift yesterday

Had to emergency lower a 5-ton steel beam onto the deck, which was not fun. Anyone have a good mechanic in the Phoenix area they trust for a rush job?

Actually, that specific brake failing mid-lift isn't super common, but it's a known weak spot if maintenance gets skipped.

Yeah, is it mostly an issue when people get lazy with the regular greasing schedule? I mean, idk why anyone would skip that on a Link-Belt, they're not cheap to fix if something seizes up. The pivot pin area is what I've heard can get sloppy if you don't stay on top of it, and then that puts extra stress on the brake assembly. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather replace a few seals early than deal with a full brake job mid-lift.

Heard that Link-Belt brake fail is a known issue.
