Hit 50,000 words on my novel draft yesterday and felt nothing

I spent 8 months grinding to get there and when I hit the milestone I just stared at the screen for 10 minutes. Anyone else have a writing goal that felt way less exciting than you expected?

Agree with you and @white.alex both, that milestone feeling is weirdly flat sometimes. I nailed 30,000 words on my last project after months of work and just sat there refreshing my email like something was supposed to happen. It took stepping away for a week before I could even feel proud of it, the excitement just doesn't hit at the moment you expect it to.

Yeah, hitting that number feels weirdly hollow sometimes, right? I remember when I finished my first short story I was so hyped but then just sort of sat there wondering what to do with myself. Kinda anticlimactic, but I think the real feeling comes later when you look back on it.
