Paid $45 for a box of 500 random prompt cards at a Half Price Books in Dallas, and I've used maybe 6 of them
I grabbed it thinking the constraint of pulling a card would force me to write more, but most of them are stuff like 'write about a door' with zero angle. The six I did use got turned into actual short stories because the cards had a conflict baked in, like 'a locksmith who lost his keys.' I ended up writing my own 40 cards on index cards instead, which took one evening and cost nothing. The real save was putting a timer on it, 15 minutes per card, no edits. Anyone else tried prompt decks and found a cheaper or faster way that actually works?
