Blown $200 on a 'traditional' wedding ceremony my family didn't even attend

Booked a full cultural wedding package in Osaka last month, complete with Shinto robes and a sake ceremony, and my Japanese relatives refused to come because my fiancé isn't Japanese. Has anyone else thrown cash at a tradition that just ended up making everyone mad?
