Grandma in Seoul told me not to sleep with wet hair and I laughed it off for 10 years
My Korean grandma kept nagging me about sleeping with wet hair, saying it would make me sick. I thought it was just old wives tale superstition until I moved to Japan and learned it's a common taboo there too. After I got chronic sinus infections for 6 months straight, a doctor in Osaka told me the dampness actually weakens your immune system and lets bacteria grow. Now I always blow dry before bed, and my sinus issues cleared up in 2 weeks. Has anyone else had family taboos that turned out to have real health reasons behind them?

It's wild how many of those old school rules are actually just practical advice wrapped in a superstition. Same thing with not sitting in a draft or putting cold water on a hot engine. People back then just didn't have the science words to explain why.
