It's still shit even if it's a step in the right direction.
Nobody tells parents to get their kid therapy until it's too late because they grew up in the 80's and getting help wasn't common. Probably why so many children (in the teenage years) are committing suicide and doing drugs.

Just realized how openly people talk about mental health now compared to when I was a kid
I remember my mom telling me in the 90s that you just didn't talk about seeing a therapist, it was a huge secret. Now I see ads for therapy apps on the subway. What's a taboo in your family or culture that's slowly fading?

The stigma around medication for depression feels way lighter now (which is honestly a huge relief).

My cousin's kid just started therapy at 14, and it's already making a difference. It's like what tara_williams1 said, we need to treat it like a checkup. My aunt said she wishes someone had told her to do it years ago, back when he was in middle school and just seemed "quiet.
