My aunt swore that talking about money at family dinners was bad luck. Turns out she had a point.

I mentioned my new raise at Thanksgiving last year, and my cousin got really weird about it. Three weeks later, she stopped talking to me, and my aunt said it's because I jinxed it by bragging. Has anyone else seen money talk actually cause drama in their family?

...so my uncle Chris turned a simple "how's business" question into a full blown twenty minute rant about how my cousin's new startup was a pyramid scheme. That was five years ago and they still barely speak at Easter. Money talk just brings out the weird competitive side of people, especially when someone's doing better than they expected.
