Rant: I ate with my left hand at a dinner in Mumbai and did not get why everyone went quiet
My coworker's mom had us over for dinner last year and I just started eating with my left hand like normal, and the whole table got real quiet for a second before her dad said something in Hindi. My coworker later said the left hand is for bathroom stuff there, not food. I apologized to his mom but I still think about it, has anyone else messed up a house rule like this while traveling?
Did his mom at least laugh it off after you said sorry? I did something kind of similar in Thailand when I pointed my feet at someone, and the whole room went dead silent too.
