A framer's throwaway comment on lumber made me rethink our whole bid

We were going over a quote in Denver and he said, 'you're pricing the wood, not the waste.' After 14 years managing builds I'd never factored in offcuts that way. Anyone else had a sub drop a line that changed how you estimate?
