Builder told me to skip the ridge vent, glad I questioned it
Contractor in Austin said ridge vents leak and wanted just gable vents on our custom build. I pushed back after checking forums, paid the extra $420 for proper venting. Attic stays cool now even in July, no moisture spots. Anyone else had builders push outdated shortcuts?

Did you check if your soffit vents are clear too? I had the same fight with our roofer back in 2021, paid for the ridge vent and added baffles, and it made a huge difference in the summer heat.
