My builder in Asheville missed the rough-in inspection by one outlet and it cost me $3,400
We had the whole week planned out. Monday the electrician finished rough-in, Tuesday we walk it with the county inspector, Wednesday we start hanging drywall. Simple. Instead the inspector shows up Tuesday morning, walks the master bath, and points at the wall behind where the tub goes. No outlet within 3 feet of the sink. I didn't even know that was a thing. Electrician has to come back out, cut into the wall he just finished, run a new line, and then we wait 4 more days for a re-inspect. Drywall crew sat around for two days getting paid to do nothing, and my builder passes those days onto me. $3,400 over one outlet. My builder acted like I was being picky when I asked why nobody caught it before the inspector did. Should the builder eat that cost or is this just how it goes with custom builds? I'm 3 months from moving in and already tired.
